The Car

Dad bought this exact car (different pic) from one of our neighbors for $500. This was at a time when he could've afforded something much better. But that was the type of guy he was. He never bought things for himself, instead focused his attention on family members. It was a great example to set for each of us.

Of course, Jay probably has the best stories on this one. He used to get dropped off to school in this beast.

  1. Haha, yes Dad and I used to cruise around in this bad boy all the time. His looked just like this one except his had no hubcaps, the speedometer didn't work, but it still held its own. One of Dad's favorite things to do with this car was going to the self car wash after buying a grease cleaner from the auto parts store and hosing the engine down of its grease. I remember Dad bought this one around the same time Sandh bought her Land Rover and he would always compare his 500 dollar purchase to Sandh's 30,000 dollar purchase.Hahaha those were some funny times. I have to say even though Dad did buy crappy Mercedes it was so fun always toying around fixing them with him and Tony. Pank and I could probably give a tune up to any Mercedes from 1991 and below.
